After 20 years in New York City, Dow Veeranarong and Marc Aqui decided it was time to move closer to family here in Atlanta. The appeal of living in a Conservation Community initially drew them to Serenbe but they decided it was just too far from the conveniences of the city. After Dow’s parents saw signs for Pendergrast Farm, they took a deeper look and were delighted to learn that the concept of Pendergrast Farm is based on the same conservation and sustainability principles upon which Serenbe is based. They fell in love with the friendly community, the convenient proximity to Atlanta and the reality of farm-to-table living.

“We appreciate this community. The word community itself has taken on a new meaning – it amazes me that strangers have come together so quickly in a genuinely kind and caring way,” said Dow about life at Pendergrast Farm. “I feel like I’ve known our small community for years even though it’s barely been a few months of living here.”

The quiet atmosphere of Pendergrast Farm was a nice transition from the hustle of the big city. Dow noted that the community offered close friends that live just next door while still maintaining the privacy that comes from having a detached home.

Homes at Pendergrast Farm are situated in a village-style setting, creating a personal feel for homeowners but with comfortable proximity to neighbors. The 20-home community showcases luxury living that foster sustainability practices and friendship,

Located near the heart of intown Atlanta, Pendergrast Farm boasts a close-knit community, rooted in unique conservation efforts and fellowship among homeowners. For Dow, an Atlanta native, moving to the community was a homecoming. Her twin daughters love the fact that there are other Pendergrast kids for built-in playdates.

The home decision process was a unique one for the Veeranarong/Aqui family. Their home was a custom build, meticulously planned by Dennis McConnell, Pendergrast Farm’s developer and builder. The heart of their home is the large kitchen island where the family gathers. The custom features like built-in bookcases, numerous storage options and peaceful screened porches caught the attention of the couple, and they knew this was the right home for them. They loved the custom cabinetry and designer upgrades of the home and have enjoyed adding their own touches since moving in.

Dow describes the open floorplan as large and comfortable, but cozy enough to feel connected. The thoughtful design creates an inviting space for family and guests without sacrificing the close feel of a smaller home.

Dow said, “We chose this home because of its location overlooking the Common Green and the farm. I love the ability to see the Green from the kitchen sink as it’s where my kids love to be.”

Pendergrast Farm encourages community members to get outside and interact with nature and each other. The community’s 1-acre working farm will be a great place to learn sustainable food practices and strike up a conversation with neighbors. The under construction Common House will also provide a space for gathering, as does the great lawn and swimming pool.
